Description: This is a perennial herb. It’s stem is one of two things, prostrate or climbing. They can grow over 6 feet (2m) long.
Growth: Full grown they can be 10 to 25 centimeters long and 4-8 centimeters wide.
This plant has a tendril that expands a great distance at the end which is hollowed; this is why it is known as the “pitcher plant”
The pitcher is a cylinder shape which grows to 7-15 CM long with a 2-5 cm diameter.
What’s really interesting about this plant is that it is has a unisexual flower which is a purplish-red color.
It is found most abundantly in the following places; Tiam Lam Chung, So Kwun Wat, Castle Peak, Laneau, Hainan, Guangdong, and parts of Malaysia and the across the Indochina Peninsula.

 

Grows best in grasses and marshland areas, especially in crevices.

This specimen is a fantastic example of a carnivorous plant. The top threats to this specimen are habitat destruction and people over-collecting it and using if for ornaments.

This species is also protected by the Forestry Regulations (Cap. 96 sub. leg.) and the Protection of Endangered Species of Animals and Plants Ordinance (Cap. 586).
